The Albuquerque International Association is pleased to present a lecture by Necip Orhan titled Impacts of the Recent Turkish Presidential Election on Turkey and the World. After an unprecedented presidential runoff election, Recep Erdoğan has extended his two decades in power in Turkey. Mr. Orhan will look at the effect this outcome will have within the country and around the world, particularly with respect to its role in NATO, where it has currently been delaying Sweden’s entry into the alliance.
Necip Orhan is currently Executive Director of the Raindrop Foundation Turkish Cultural Center in Albuquerque and the Regional Director of the Dialogue Institute. The Dialogue Institute is a non-profit, social, cultural, educational and charitable organization operating in 7 states which establishes bridges between faiths, cultures and communities through respectful dialogue. Necip holds a master’s degree in management from New York Institute of Technology and Religious Literacy degree from Harvard University. He was born and raised in Turkey, moved to New York in 2007 for his studies, and has been living in Albuquerque for the last 13 years.
